Why cactus leather?
Cactus leather is a plant-based alternative to animal leather, made from the pads of the prickly pear cactus (Opuntia), a plant known for growing in dry conditions. Harvested pads regrow, and no animal hide is involved.
Like most leather alternatives it is a composite: processed cactus, a binder and a textile backing. We are open about that, and focus on what makes a bag last — folded edges, reinforced handles and careful stitching.
From plant to product
How a desert plant becomes something you carry

It starts with the prickly pear.
Opuntia grows in flat, fleshy pads and is known for tolerating dry conditions. Its pads are the raw material behind cactus leather.

Mature pads are cut, the plant stays.
Selected mature pads are harvested while the plant continues to grow from its base, so a field can be harvested again.

Processed, dried, formed into a sheet.
The pads are cleaned, processed and dried, then combined with a binder and coated onto a textile backing to form a flexible, leather-like material.

Cut to pattern, finished by hand.
Each piece is cut, its edges folded or painted, and assembled with stitched seams and reinforced stress points.

Good to know
What is cactus leather made from?
Processed pads of the prickly pear cactus combined with a binder and coated onto a textile backing. It is plant-based but, like most leather alternatives, it is a composite rather than 100% plant.
Is it vegan?
Yes. No animal-derived materials are used in cactus leather or in our linings.
Does it smell like leather?
No. New pieces have a faint, neutral smell that fades within a few days of use.
How much is shipping?
Standard shipping is free on orders above ₹999 (after discounts) and ₹99 below that. Express shipping to metro cities is ₹199.
